David Miliband’s blog goes live

UK Cabinet minister David Miliband’s blog is now live. David is Minister of Communities and Local Government and is the first UK government minister to start a blog.

I think it is particularly apt as ever since starting my first blog as a local councillor in early 2003 I’ve been arguing that blogs provide a powerful tool for enabling communications and conversations within communities.

In May I will cease to be a local councillor and I’m very much looking forward to the opportunities that it will provide. I have lots what I think are exciting ideas for using social media for improving connections within and between communities. The next stage is finding funding to get pilot projects of some of these ideas off the ground. Watch this space.

    Hi Stuart,
I was so pleased when I came across your blog. I am a freelance journalist and press officer and would like to develop blogging as a PR tool. I would appreciate any advice you can give on this. I live near Cambridge where you would expect companies to be in the lead with this, but they have no idea about it.
I plan to go to this blogging conference to learn more, do you plan to go? http://www.blogging4business.com
I am friends who someone called Geoff Jones who held the first blogging conference in the UK
