I’ve argued before that blogs present a potentially powerful communications tool for trade unions. Blogs could provide a way for individual union members to explain their point of view directly to the public. Individual workers are nearly always at a disadvantage in the media as ‘management’ usually have more direct access.
Hearing from individuals who are being victimised or bullied presents the human face of industrial disputes. I’ve just found the GMB’s message board which isn’t quite as effective as it doesn’t allow a conversation in the same way as a blog with comments does. However, it does let you hear from some of the workers at Asda.
