Run for Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Luke Akehurst has just alerted me to the fact that Andy Charlwood and Ryan Norton are running the Great Yorkshire 10k on Sunday May 10. They are running in memory of “our mutual friend, comrade and colleague” Dom McElroy, who died tragically young from this awful condition.

Dom was a good friend, who I miss greatly – and the Labour Party misses even more, as Dom was one of the most tireless campaigners and workers I know.

UPDATE: Sorry folks, this should have gone on Stuart’s Soapbox.

    Hi Stuart.

As a media agency person who has worked in both in London and the regional markets, you are right in essence that the offices should have the same levels or service.

The issue here is client perception, not agency competence. Sadly many clients perceive London agencies to have a greater level of competence than those in Manchester / Edinburgh / Leeds etc. If anything, the level of client service and sometimes quality of work is actually greater outside of London as there is my focus on the client business from my own experience.

I don't work for MEC or the WPP group, but if I was a betting man, I would put my money on them protecting the business by moving it internally to London before a London move is demanded. I very much doubt it is down to better skills or service being able to be delivered in London.
