Public relations, social media and word of mouth
Byrne says there is smoke, but no fire
Colin Byrne, UK CEO of Webser Shandwick, has another great Byrne Baby Byrne blog post, to follow up his ‘attack’ on the government post that was picked up firstly by PR Week and then the nationals.
He says it wasn’t “an attack on the government and party I have supported through thick and thin”. He’s right, it was just a public relations professional commenting on a communications story, which is something the media does all of the time.
It is little wonder that the public holds politics and politicians in such low esteem when the media continually focuses on spin and and other irrelevant stories that they largely create themselves.
