The Conversation Prism was created by Brian Solis and design firm JESS3 in 2008. It used to be an element of some of my social media and online PR training to show that the online world was much bigger than just Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. It has received some updates, but nothing major until now.
The new 2013 Conversation Prism 4.0 is a more complex infographic, to reflect the increased complexity of the social web. It introduces several new elements including enterprise social networks, social marketplaces, influence measurement, quantified self and service networking.
