Stuart Bruce is an international PR adviser and trainer who is globally recognised as a pioneer in modernised public relations including corporate communications, public affairs and corporate digital and social media.
He is a chartered public relations practitioner and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations where he serves as an executive board director, chairs the Policy and Campaigns Committee andÂ leads two task groups – Global and Measurement.
Stuart is the managing consultantÂ of Stuart Bruce Associates, an independent international agile managementÂ consultancy that helps clients create modern PR strategies and modernise their PR and communications team. He also advises on integrating online PR, digital and social media into public relations and corporate communications strategy. He is a visiting lecturer at Leeds Beckett University where he teaches post-graduate public relations, corporate communications and public affairs on the joint international MA/MSc programme with Hanze University of Applied Science, Groningen in the Netherlands. Stuart also teaches the CIPR diploma and trains delegates on CIPR training courses. He has also lectured on the future of political communications at the prestigious Moscow State University.
Stuart is on the International Organising Committee for the Davos World Communication Forum and is a regular speaker in Davos and has chaired two of its regional conference and in 2015 chairedÂ its annual summit in Davos.

Before becoming an independent PR adviser Stuart was the founder andÂ managing director of Â one of the UK’s first specialist online PR and social media agencies,Â which he grew in less than three years to become a PRWeek Top 150 PR Consultancy, ranking 22 in the Top 40 Digital Consultancies league table. Under Stuart’s leadership the PR agencyÂ worked for clients such as Sony Mobile, Unilever, PayPal, HSBC, First Direct, Carlsberg, GlaxoSmithKline, Discovery Channel, Philips, SunGard and the NHS.
Stuart has also worked at the highest levels in politics as director of strategy and communications for Andy Burnham’s Labour Party leadership campaign in 2010, after successfully performing the same role for Alan Johnson in the deputy leadership elections in 2007 when he ran one of the world’s first Twitter political campaigns.
Stuart was one of the worldâs first PR bloggers and started this PR blog in 2003 and it is consistently ranked as one of the worldâs top PR blogs.
He is a co-author of Share This: The Social Media Handbook for PR Professionals and Share This Too: More Social Media Solutions for PR Professionals contributing chapters on modernised media relations, digital public affairs and social CSR. He also co-authored with Professor Ralph Tench a paper for the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences in Berlin on Online Strategies and Organisational Communications. StuartÂ has also contributed to several ebooks including The Business of Blogging and My PRstack: A practical guide to modern PR tools and workflow.
He regularly speaks at international PR conferences and is an experienced awards judge in the UK. He also regularly appears in print and broadcast media commenting on online PR including on Al-Jazeera International.
Stuart was listed in the PRWeek Power Book of the UKâs most influential PR people from 2007 to 2011. In 2013 Stuart was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Social Media Award at the annual Social Media Communications Awards.
